Jim
Anthony Band - Self-Titled
By Chelsea 2003
The
Jim Anthony Band’s debut is diverse, strong and easy to relate to. The Minneapolis
based band has a down to earth feel,
without distracting musical tangents or hard to understand lyrics. The
music is true to the band’s motto of ‘real
life, real music, for real people’ and the ten tracks easily stand
out on their own, but blend together to create a CD well worth listening
the entire way through. The only flaw that listeners may find is that some
songs seem to be very similar, but upon repeat listens the disc, those
songs begin to take a character and sound of their own.
Stand-out
tracks include ‘Little Bit of Faith,’ with a slower paced but very
touching experience, ‘He is My Peace,’ a song that is sure to touch
listeners as a worship song, and ‘Fourth of July,’ a fun, upbeat song
about the Fourth of July, as titled. Overall, the release from the Jim
Anthony band is a multi-faceted work of musical talent that delivers its
promise of ‘real music’ and the future works from these five men are
sure to succeed as well.
