P.O.D.
- Satellite
By Danae
While a good portion of secular music out there is
screaming rants of killing, death and murder into teenagers headphones,
rockers P.O.D. have taken over the Christian scene screaming LIFE-
"I'm thankful for every breath I take, I don't take it for
granted" (from "Alive") Without cutting out the hard edge
they are bringing hope and life with songs such as 'Alive' and 'Youth of
The Nation'. 'Ghetto' turns to love for healing world problems.
Definitely one of my favorite tracks is 'Youth of The
Nation' dealing with hard issues like suicide and school shootings. They
search for the answers saying "will it ever make sense? Somebody's
gotta know" P.O.D. standing for Payable On Death has been heard on
MTV on TRL (Total Request Live) and countless secular and Christian radio
stations across the nation and world. Yet with all this mainstream air
play has P.O.D. watered down their message? Not a bit! Their songs openly
refer to 'Jah' (Psalm 68:4: "Sing unto God, sing praises to his name:
extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name Jah, and rejoice before
him" [KJV]) many times in the record. 'Thinking About Forever' is a
tribute to one of the members late mother saying: "Whatever good is
in me is because you showed me how to take love by the hand...do I make
you proud?" This record is a great work of art. A must-have in your
CD collection, Even if you're not normally into hard rock, let this one
grow on you.
